This is actually a thing, though. My mom would collect crowds when we were in China because she’s left-handed and can write Chinese. They’d never seen this before. One of our friends from China is “obviously left-handed” by US standards, but writes right-handed, because Chinese doctors would recommend things like “wrap the left hand in cloth then dip it in boiling water so it scalds enough that they can’t use it for a week” as a way to treat the Western Degeneracy of left-handedness.
My dude’s mother was raised Catholic in the US and was forcibly made to use her right hand to write. She is very obviously left-handed, but writes right-handed with an odd slant because they tied her arm to the desk when she was a child because writing left-handed was not done. In English. In the US. She was born in 1951.
(When I tried to learn to write Japanese in college the teacher admitted she didn’t know whether it could be done left-handed. I never did master it. It’s possible with a pen, but nearly impossible with a brush.)
