Yeah, having thought about it more, if I were being constantly recorded at my day job, a whole lot of not-particularly-well-thought-out turns of phrase would come out of my mouth.
Sometimes it’s hilarious, looking back on crises and emergencies and things, to reflect on what was actually said. Like when we had an intruder in our house (some drunk lady thought we were the neighbors; she broke in through the not-well-secured side door and used our bathroom, awakening us; it was 2 am) and my underwear-clad boyfriend burst out of the bedroom weaponless to confront the intruder, and said, “Lady, what are you doing?” and she said, “My you’re tall” and that was about the extent of the conversation. Well, what do you say?
And I was once in a car crash and had time, as I was losing control of the vehicle, to say to my passenger, “Well, this is gonna be crap.” Stuff just comes out of your mouth when you’re too distracted to think of something good.
But I can’t get over the guy after like a two-hour car chase and having been assaulted, screaming at the perpetrator, “WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION”, like this is a 90s sitcom. It was just. Incongruously innocuous?
