It would also be interesting to see what was there pre-1900s. It might not be the building, but the land it is on.
It’s possible. The joke originally was that the condo I was in was haunted, but as I have learned from @levynite, the more you talk about a ghost, the more likely you are to attract one, so it could be that rather than originally haunting my specific room, the ghost was just around and was drawn to all this talk of ghosts.

That definitely sounds like Ghost is trying to manifest for you. Probably because you’ve made sure to not accidentally box them up again, it’s October, etc.
Good luck in the way of research! The hat sounds like a Cloche-style hat, so maybe that’ll help.
Yeah, I was thinking oh…OCTOBER…probably helping out her cause :D
I don’t think it was a cloche, exactly – it might have been a nursing cap. But yes, the same sort of style.

Is it possible it was a bathrobe and shower cap?
No, it was definitely a jacket, it had buttons, and the cap wasn’t a shower cap as far as I could tell. It might have been a housecoat but I got the impression it ended at the waist, though I don’t recall if she had a dress/skirt on (my ukulele stand was in the way).

I know Ghost has never been a threatening presence to you, but I gotta say this story gave me THE WILLIES
I’m so fascinated that it’s freaking people out! It didn’t even occur to me to be scared or that the story was scary in itself – I can see how it would be, it just didn’t come up in my brain. Which in itself is interesting.
I have a good friend who can see ghosts, and i never knew that. I mean, this girl was my friend in kindergarten and we ran around pretending to be dinosaurs, and I talked about that in my maid of honor speech at her wedding, that level of close. Plus she was an only child so whenever there was a family event her parents would have her bring me along so she wouldn’t get bored. I mean, I spent a lot of time with her and we were close and we talked about a lot of stuff.
And it was like, age 35 I manage a social visit after much life gets in the way, and she’s like, casually in the course of the conversation, well you know I can see ghosts, of course, and I’m like, you what now?
And she’s like oh yeah I might not have mentioned it. We don’t talk about it, you know? Because that’s like, rule number one, you don’t really talk about it.
What do you do if you see a ghost?? I asked.
Oh, she said, you don’t acknowledge them. You talk to them if you have to, but really, you don’t pay them any mind if you can manage to. Because you’re not supposed to be able to see or hear them, you know? If they’re being disruptive it’s because they’re doing something they shouldn’t be doing, so if you pay attention you’ll only encourage them. If it’s someone you know, like someone recent, they might have a legit reason to talk to you, so it’s okay, but don’t make a habit of talking to them. It’s just a bad idea.
She had a ghost who hated that she hung her hat on a mirror’s corner, and threw it down onto the bed every day, so she stopped hanging the hat on the mirror, but other than that didn’t acknowledge the thing. She had a ghost touch her once, and she snapped at it to leave her alone. And when her grandma died, she came back to watch her sleep, which was creepy but she figured saying goodnight grandma wasn’t out of line, and it wasn’t. After a while grandma stopped, and she never got weird about it so it was ok.
She says mostly, ghosts don’t mean harm. Some do, and you can feel that, and it’s bad. Most don’t, but they’re not supposed to be perceptible to you, so it’s better not to encourage them if they are.
So, from that, I feel like maybe it’s reasonable that if your Ghost was just around, she might really be drawn to someone who acknowledges her. But I guess if she’s not giving you bad creepy feelings, she’s probably not malevolent, right?? My friend would probably yell at you not to encourage her, though.
