now that emily so kindly told me thta the actor who plays bail organa is puerto rican, i cant stop thinking about the differences in poe and leia’s space spanish bc puerto rican dialect is different from guatemalan so space puerto rican spanish is gonna be different than space guatemalan spanish or there are gonna be words that are the same word but mean something totally different depending on where you’re from
like example: in puerto rico arroz con culo is slang for something that causes trouble/a debacle and in guatemala meterse en camisa de once varas means getting into trouble and they’re both really different
also yesterday my friend (who’s puerto rican) was talking about this colombian friend of hers who used to say estoy mamado which in colombia just means you’re exhausted but in puerto rico mamarse is literally slang for getting your dick sucked/getting eaten out and im living for the moment when leia says something that’s totally innocent in space puerto rican spanish and is completely filthy in space guatemalan spanish and poe’s face
now im also thinking about poe and leia exchanging slang words so eventually poe’s space spanish gets peppered with space puerto rican as well as his native space guatemalan
