writing process, lolll, sob

am in buffalo this week, being put to do odd jobs at the camera store,
after having blasted through the backlog of video orders—— mostly. anyhow.
still more to do there, but. i also have been fucking around, so i can’t
complain.
i took shameless advantage of being unsupervised and spent a solid little
bit this morning with a doc open on my work computer and then working on my
laptop, so i could heavily-rewrite a scene without having to tab back and
forth. it meant no copy-paste but it’s better that way.
this is after some heavy brainstorming/analyisis with
bittylildragon
https://tmblr.co/mFZ-dyX2gnK2QUR8N-lH5pA, but now i think, i think I
have Sparrow back on track after having been wildly Roche-derailed for a
bit, so maybe– maybe? maybe I’ll have an update for that one on Friday or
Monday. Er– that’s Fit For Pearls, whose working title is Sparrow, I forget
nobody else lives in my head and knows that.
Listen there are throughlines, apparently, and I didn’t know that, but– the
whole thing is about Ciri realizing what it means that she has as much
power as she does. You can’t just have a fling with someone when you’re
basically the ruler of the known world. and it’s like, on multiple levels
there. It’s not that you can’t have a power-imbalance relationship; if that
were true she couldn’t fuck anyone, not really. If you want to fuck your
secretary, and have her consent mean anything, you’ve really got to hash
things out beforehand. And then beyond that, if you realize your dad, in
your absence, groomed a young man to be his heir, and now that he has you
back, is hoping to tidy things up by just handing that young man over to
you to have as your own, well– i mean, to have that work, you have to
understand that that also is not an even balance of power. It might seem
like it is, but it is not.
Anyway my early-on idle narrative choice to not have Ciri have a POV in any
of this is sure a heck of a choice to have made. We’re gonna see where this
takes us. I had intended this to be a much shorter work but I also had not
figured out what it was about when I started. So. Anyway. We’re getting
there.
Meanwhile I gotta get back to typing UPC codes into my computer and fixing
prices on ancient deadstock, so. laterz.
