After some discussion of my and [personal profile] laurelnose https://tmblr.co/mq54LIcK9Ujftei-4qS_V9A ’s katakan!Roche AU, please have a snippet from an even more AU jumping off point, taking place in the prologue of Witcher 2.

Letho climbed over the side railing of the boat, dripping wet and spitting mad, and Iorveth knew he’d failed.

ā€œSo,ā€ he said with a sneer. ā€œFailed by dh’oine yet again. What’s your excuse for it this time?ā€

but, witcher 2, the witcher

via https://ift.tt/3oqjWg9

I’m plugging away on this Ciri story, and I think for the sake of structure I’m going to fold in at least one of the other plot lines directly into this one. On the one hand, i want Ciri to have room to herself, a whole story– but, on the other hand, Geralt’s POV is going to blend with hers pretty soon, and on the third hand, the point of this is to wind up several disparate timelines and catch them up with the events of Trust.

Eskel’s story will be separate, I think, partly because it’s really pretty far separated for a while and partly because I … don’t entirely know how I’d intersperse it anyway. But Geralt’s just gonna get mushed in with Ciri– and so is Yennefer, then, which, fine.

Except. For some reason I decided that I wanted there to be a couple of Witcher 2 things in this fucking timeline– partly because the more I look into it the more ridiculous and outrageous it is that they cut Iorveth from W3, and partly because if I don’t there’s not enough framework to hang the plot I need to hang.

Anyway, long story short, I have met Roche in W3 enough that I feel like I can throw him in without much trouble. But I don’t fucking know Iorveth, and it’s not like I can fill him in from the books– I only spotted his name once, and it’s just part of an offhand description– Iorweth’s defeated commandos– in among Everything Isengrim. (Everything’s coming up wolves! Wolf McWolferson, ILU.)

I don’t enjoy Witcher 2′s animation or character styles, and I don’t like watching videos anyway. I sat through Iorveth’s first appearance in that game and hoo boy okay W2 needs a lot more teeth-gritting in general than W3. I’m– good, thanks. Really we can stop making jokes about Triss’s arse already. No, I know, that’s straight from the books, but– really.

Really, what else do I need to know about Iorveth besides that he’s a really angry elf with a facial scar and no chill who loves dragons and loves getting tied up? I mean, what else do I need?

(Please, if you’re someone who cares a lot about this, tell me gently, LOL.) (Your picture was not posted)
