Today is the day for a flower harvest. We need a couple of buckets of flowers for a wedding Saturday– it’s low-key, we’re just making market bouquets for this woman to pick up and bring to a nearby venue, she doesn’t want anything special so we’re not charging anything special. 

But it’s going to rain tomorrow, so today’s the day.

Also today is the day to harvest all the flowers to make dried bouquets for the winter. Anything we don’t have by the end of this week, we probably won’t have at all. It’ll freeze soon enough, and stuff has slowed way down in production anyway. We’ve already decided to stop bringing bouquets to market. Which means I want to have dried bouquets to bring instead, which means I need to make them this week, which I can do but I also need to harvest more because it won’t be enough for the whole winter.

So, fine! Fine. I have to go do that.

But my ankle is painful, and i have to hobble, and I don’t want to go stand on it in soft dirt while I harvest flowers. I just don’t want to do it.

So, that’s my whine of the morning. I’m going to go, now, and get started, I just had to get the whining out.

(I sprained my ankle yesterday for no reason and I’m cranky about it. I can walk on it, it holds weight, it’s just sore and doesn’t want to move. Grump, grump, grump. Yes, I’ve got plenty of experience with sprained ankles and I’m doing the things one ought to do, except the part where you ought to stay off of them, because who has time for that? I mean, right this moment I’m staying off of it, but I have to get up now and don’t want to. Phooey.)

atheists who get Extremely Mad when confronted by any form of ‘mysticism’ make me so tired…. like…… this world is rich with strange, unique ideas. it’s so utterly human to cling to the patterns of stars, to worship the moon, to imagine unseen forces as human reflections with life and personality. there is no harm in exploring these outlandish theories!! for the most part, it’s not ‘Crazy People Insisting They Know The Future’. it’s just people— regular people—seeing reflections of themselves in oral history and stars and playing cards.

let people have their fun. none of us know dick shit about how the universe works, anyway.

… and i’m back and whining to myself

… and i’m back and whining to myself about how i don’t want to get up, but in my defense there were several hours in between and I *did* do a lot of stuff.

I was able to walk reasonably for much of today but I am really really Really tired now and I don’t want to walk any more thanks.

Also I almost had a really spooky story about how my car magically moved itself four feet over the course of a day where no one went near it but I was starting to tell the story at lunch and Veg Manager was like “oh I moved your car, the keys were in it and I needed the implement it was parked next to and I figured I should move it to be sure I didn’t ding it”.

oh. Well, that’s way less creepy but probably for the best.

Oh my gosh I’m so tired, can I just go to bed now???
