Tomorrow is the first chicken processing day of the season, so today we have to run around like crazy getting everything set up. This involves hauling major furniture around, getting out and testing appliances that haven’t been used since October, and cleaning and cleaning and cleaning and cleaning, and bleaching and sanitizing literally every surface.
But yesterday my mom and dad came over, and we hauled the stuff out of the attic of the granary and down onto the farm truck, Mom was sure Dad would get squashed by the mattress coming out the attic door but instead he just dropped the mattress, straight over his own head into a ditch.
Which is fine because I have the thing in an allergy encasement waterproof thing, which is slowly getting trashed, and that’s fine, because I’ll get another one at some point. (I don’t have allergies, I just figure that’s the best way to keep ants from building a nest in the thing, or whatever.)
We got the yurt up with less drama even than usual, and it’s all set, but everything is piled up onto the bed and I figured we’d take another night to get it set up properly.
