Welp Tumblr just ate the post I was making, weirdly– I didn’t press any buttons, it just popped up and told me the page took too long to load or something, so that was irritating.

Anyway I’m back in Buffalo, after a detour through Rochester Saturday night. Lovely times. And Sunday morning, while I was in the shower, a package arrived– a new sewing and embroidery machine, which it turns out my bestie had coordinated with my three sisters to buy for me. So that’s cool and exciting and also very touching, that they thought to do that.

Anyway. Forgot the door code at work, which was hilarious and awful. But I remembered the password, so when the alarm company called, I could say, don’t call the cops dudes, and they were like, it’s fine, don’t go deaf. Nice and stressful, but whatever.

Phones are ringing off the hook; last week, we had some eclipse-viewing goggles in stock. We ran out last week, of course, and can’t get more, and starting Friday got about a 300-person waiting list for them, but that doesn’t prevent people calling today all blithe and bonny like “you have these, right?” and then wanting to talk to me for fifteen minutes about alternatives they can find elsewhere, while the phone audibly keeps ringing in the background. I just say “no, sorry, good luck” and hang up by now.

I tried answering the phone, “Good morning, StoreName, we don’t have any eclipse glasses in stock, is there anything else I can help you with?” but of course got the one customer who had a different question and was like, “what?”, and then got a customer who ignored my greeting and engaged me in lengthy conversation about whether or not I’d, by any chance, have any of those, what do you call them, you know, the things, for the thing– I was like no sir, that’s what I just– so it’s just less exasperating to wait for them to ask, I guess.

Anyway. Good times.

Trying out the new embroidery machine! I meant to record the end but I estimated it too soon. Oh well. This is the only built-in design that’s at all cool, but don’t worry, you can download more. And I found a tutorial to make your own. Anyone who wanted to get me a birthday present, I’m going to be going through a lot of tear-away stabilizer…
