well good morning
Jan. 1st, 2010 10:58 pmI got up this morning and uploaded a ton of photos.
Christmas
and New Year's.
(New Year's was Z's birthday, as ever-- he's 30 this year-- so we always do whatever he wants. He asked to go ice skating, but it was raining, so instead we went to the American side of Niagara Falls and wandered around Goat Island and the Three Sisters and played with my camera and the tripod.)
Then I went and made a bag for my baby sister-- just a reusable grocery-sack kind of thing. it took longer than I'd thought, and she and her husband arrived before I was done. It was fun anyway. We hung out all afternoon, and I made stuffed pork chops and rice pilaf for dinner, with my sister's help.
Then her husband reattached our thermostat to the wall, and then put the leg onto the counter in the basement, with the help of me, a little, and a bottle of beer. It was fun. I'm excited, as what he wound up doing was probably about what I would have done but I would have taken two years to do it and would have agonized over it not being the right thing and maybe I was missing something etc.
He also "fixed" the electrocution refrigerator by explaining that his grandparents had the same issue for like five years with their fridge and as long as we put down carpets around it we'd be fine. OK, physics teacher. I probably still won't use it much, but, well, we'll see. I just don't want to haul it out of the basement...
Anyway, a pleasant first day of the year. And I started and finished a project, with few to no hitches. I've just got to make like, uh, six more or so, for Christmas presents. Ha.
Never did that year-end meme thing. I don't know that my life is that interesting. I might do it for future reference. Sometimes introspection isn't that useful. But sometimes it is.
