dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (Default)
Pennsic is awesome. I wish it would stop raining though. Love everyone and everything there. Am exhausted. Took me until 10 am to get out of there, with various complicated logistics-- ran/walked the 45-minute hike to get my car in a torrential downpour, wearing only a tunic and no shoes (would've been too slippery otherwise), got in my car, and just left, wearing no shoes, intending to rinse the mud off and put real clothes on at a rest stop. But no time-- had to push on through to get home in time to shower and change and get to work. Z had lunch waiting, and coffee waiting, and it was wonderful. I was exhausted and stupid at work, but lived. Have to get packed and get to bed now; work tomorrow a.m. and then we're leaving straight from there if only we can get our shit together in time.
That's all the time I have here; hope I haven't missed anything important. See y'all later.

@ work, leaving straight from here to go back to Pennsic! But I have some photos and hilarious videos of the first week, taken with the store's demo model Olympus Tough 6000, up on my Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dragonlady7/

I'll have more from first week up later in the month, taken with my Canon SLR, including Nez's impromptu laundry session/shower under the leaky roof in the common area. I'll also have all second week's Wacky Hijinx (tm) to share. I'm really trying to do better at getting photos taken this year-- last year seemed fine, but then I really regretted not having pictures so much. So I've got to strike a balance between enjoying the moment and taking photos for later. This year, at least, thanks to the ruggedized loaner camera, at least I don't have to worry about getting caught out in the rain with a $900 digital camera that can't tolerate moisture. The Rebel stays in the tent and common area! The old film AE-1 can come up to the battlefield-- it probably won't tolerate a drenching, but it'll tolerate getting dripped on and shoved into a plastic Ziploc. Also its replacement value is more like $75 than $900, so that's OK.
