I just got sucked into rereading it (for Reasons) and it’s one of my most favorite extra bits of canon.
I mean first of all: Shara Bey and Kes Dameron. Poe’s parents were a couple of hotties, and were both at the Battle of Endor.
And then there was that time that Shara led Princess Leia and the Queen of Naboo in a dogfight to save Naboo from an Imperial remnant.

And then there’s this. A secret mission with Luke. I could die. Seriously.
And not only that… undercover! #mynarrativekinks #letmeshowyouthem
And basically this whole page. Same, Shara. Same.
And finally, Luke is the one who convinces her that it’s okay to step back from the fight and go be with her family, allowing her to train the next Best Pilot in the Galaxy, and have a few years of happiness. :)
In short, Shara Bey is 100% awesome, you should read Shattered Empire, and Disney/Lucasfilms better have a DAMN good reason for killing her off off-screen when Poe was a kid.
