What's the deal with Tumblr? Like, really, what the hell is it? Just longer, pic-heavy short-form blogging?
I might get one if I look into it and it seems easy. I want to start documenting my outfits a la [livejournal.com profile] fatshionista, and there's a Tumblr-based thing that's doing it for the month of February. (I don't even know what Tumblr is though.)

I feel like an old man shaking his cane. What are all these websites? I don't know what this is about?

But I feel like I definitely have a weirdo fashion sense that might be fun to document, and maybe the practice at taking photos would be good for me, since I have access to a hell of a lot more complicated photographic equipment than most bloggers, so maybe I'd have fun and learn something and contribute something really, really exquisitely bizarre to the Internet.

Well, hell. It could be fun. We'll see. I gotta look into it.

Yeah, I don't really know what Tumblr is either, despite having a couple of them I like to check. It seems to be a cross between Flickr & Twitter, basically? People post photos (with very brief notes at the most) & get likes oe reposts instead of comments.

I've also seen people posting just short excerpts of longer pieces there as well. I guess I'll have to blunder around in confusion until I either lose interest or join, whereupon I'll either use it to a ridiculous extent or abandon it with embarrassing promptness.

It's like LJ would be if you banned anything serious - people just post funny fannish stuff and leave squee. I like it but my children have banned me from it on the grounds that they have to have somewhere of their own to hang out where their mum can't watch.

I've seen a few good political-y feminist-y ones, but they're so short it's just excerpts and reactions to longer things. I don't know what's up with that and can't yet make sense of it.
