ffs I am so tired of my coworker who thinks conversations are a contest for who can get the most attention.
It is EXHAUSTING.
TODAY IS HER LAST DAY AND I AM NOT THERE
I am actually really glad not to be there because I know nobody’s gonna bring in, like, a goodbye cake or whatever, because nobody liked her and she never fucking did anything. She was a jerk to everyone. There have been divisive people before, people that were more or less unpopular, but her, literally nobody liked.
And I’m just glad not to be there through the overwhelming awkward resentful silence. That sort of thing buts me more than it does many people, and I’m just, I’m just glad.
Today the new manager was there being trained. He managed the store many years ago, and quit to run his own business, but has just gone through some awful personal-life shit, and so is willing to come back to us. He’s been around in the interim, and I mean, he quit like over a decade ago and would still come to social stuff and help out and do favors for people and somehow it was never creepy or weird, it was just– he was around, he was a good dude, he was cool and happened to be in the neighborhood, he was still friends with all his coworkers.
The first thing he did was look at her desk, which is like an eight-foot-long table with a laptop on it, and i have to climb over junk and crawl through garbage to do my job in two square feet of nothing (i can’t even put my feet on the floor) and she’s got this acres-wide space to fuck around in– he looked at it and said “i won’t be sitting here, you can throw that chair out and I dunno, put whatever you want on this table, wouldn’t it be better to use it for product photography or something useful”, and I could have kissed him
one of the major passive-aggressive campaigns I’ve been waging since she took the job and began camping out at that table is to slowly expand things from my cramped shipping desk onto her table because she doesn’t fucking need the space. she just keeps garbage and old food containers and things on it. I should’ve taken a picture.
oh wait i have a huge collection on my phone of photos of the literal garbage she would leave around the store and it goes back years
