progress report

dragonlady7Yesterday was my Pennsic household meeting. It was a fantastic time. We're totally going to have an awesome, awesome War. And I am pleased as punch to discover that my great friend Liesl is free and can come down with me for setup weekend; I had planned on going down alone, but it would be so much more fun with her there. Huzzah-- we'll make sure that the setup all goes well, and that things get decorated and sheet-walled as planned, and also we'll have loads of fun.
Got the jacket assembled, and lining and fashion fabric begun to be put together. I foresaw difficulty in getting two separate shoulder seams to lie well, and so put the sleeves on in one piece, thereby attaching the jacket firmly to itself at the shoulders/armholes. I also folded over the back neck edge and stitched it down, to make it even more stable. The front lining is so heavy because of the interlining that I worried it would shift; I still may go over the seams and backstitch them together by hand.
But first I have to put the skirt together, as I haven't the slightest clue how to set the pleats and thus have sort of left them hanging. I may not bother piecing the bits of skirt lining that aren't there-- I may just have part of the skirt unlined. It depends how it drapes once I get it all assembled. (To save on fabric I pieced bits of the skirt, and was especially sloppy about the lining. The tops of the pleats will be lined, but the rest... eh... we'll see. That's the next phase.)

I really really really really really need to make some sleeve ruffles, pronto. And I can't find the gauze I ordered for the purpose. Argh.
