dragonlady7I had fun skating tonight. I was really pissed off right at the end, and I got tripped and wound up with one numb thigh-- you just try skating on a numb thigh!! For anyone who doesn't know, we wear protective gear, but most of us don't wear anything that protects our hips/thighs, because landing on them usually isn't that bad. I just got twisted up as I tripped, and landed badly, and holy crap, my whole thigh was totally numb. It scared me, but I finished practice, and came home and put some ice on it. But it hasn't swelled, it just hurts. With any luck it'll just be a super rad-looking bruise I can show off. I never get those-- I don't bruise easily. (Well... I should say, I have a bruise on the back of my lower inner right thigh that looks like a leopard spot, which is kind of neat, but mostly it just hurts a lot and doesn't look like much. I've no idea if it's derby-related, but it probably is-- I probably landed on my wheel or something, cuz it's in the right place.)
Anyway, we'll keep an eye out. If it's a really rad bruise I'll try to get a pic. I'm glad it's slightly below the actual hip joint-- if anything's damaged, it's just muscle down there, and muscle, as I've discovered, heals clean even if you're an idiot. It's joints and tendons and things that get funky and bad.
My back, by the way, is totally better. But work has been giving me odd sciatica/hip/whatever ickiness, and I'm not psyched about that. Standing too much, y'know? Oh well. Deal-with-able.
I wish I had tomorrow off. I am just feeling like I need to stay at home and do some work and not go anywhere, but I have a full and busy two days coming up. Oh well!!!
I really want to start an etsy shop. Just mentioning that, as it's been consuming my brain kind of a lot lately.
And oh! I got home from practice and Z was sitting waiting to make me dinner. Rice was already made, and then he pan-fried salmon for me. What an awesome boyfriend I have!!
And also I have received many very lovely comments that I have open in tabs and one of these days when I am of higher energy I will respond to, unless I suck and don't. But I do want to express appreciation for them. I am working on all of this crap and will be OK. Really. Probably.
