So there's beef stew in the crock pot, which is good. Chita is squeaking and mewling forlornly around the house: it is windy and cold outside and she cringes when the door is opened, but she wants to go outside, but she wants it not to be icky outside.

I am laboring in the basement again. I hauled some things out, cleaned out under the stairs, opened a scary canister that was labeled with pool chemicals and discovered that it was full of fabric (!!! But most of it seems to be polyester etc., so, not so useful, but I'll see, I suppose), and the like. I found a zillion cat toys and can safely surmise that the various cats who have lived in this house have loved the space under the basement stairs best. Which is fine.
Z helped in some of my plans, by removing the laundry line that he ceaselessly cracks his head on. (It's an angle-iron and wood contraption that bolts to the floor studs in the ceiling of the basement, and it is just at the perfect height for him to thwack himself good with it. He has a red mark right now from the final time he thwacked it with his forehead. I pass underneath it, as I am short, but he is not. Poor man. I am moving it so he won't have that happen anymore.)
I moved the washer and dryer, not much, by myself, and moved the stove that's down there too. That corner's better. But now...
I want to move an antique refrigerator. It's enormously heavy. I can see that the last time the basement was painted, whoever did the painting just left the fridge where it is. The wall behind it is a different color. Oh my goodness, that doesn't bode well. But I really don't like it where it is, and I have a space I want to put it where it will be perfect. With only Z to help me, however, I'm not convinced we can do it. But I really want to try. :/ So, we'll see how that goes.

I also am at a loss for what to do with the antique washer down there. It has an electric wringer. it's not enormous, but it's not small either. I don't know where to put it. There's an antique electric stove down there too, which I had thought to be cute with and make into a storage cabinet of sorts, but there's not a whole lot of room in it / on it, so I'm just not sure whether I can do anything with it. It's not too heavy to move, though, I don't think-- I believe I moved it when we first moved in. I don't recall, though. I should go back and see if I have any pictures.

I had to come sit down for a bit, though. Sweeping down there always hurts my throat a lot-- it's hard to breathe, since the ventilation is so poor. I'll probably have trouble skating tonight, especially if I do anything with harsh cleaning chemicals. ... Well, maybe I'll go mop and see what happens. :/ It's pretty grody down there and I need it not to be grody.
