So sleepy.
Woke at 8 am, and took a nap between 9 and 10-- yes, seriously. Oy.
Work was fun. I really do get along spectacularly well with the store manager, the woman-- and I get along well with other co-workers too. I remain intimidated by the district manager, though. Had a lot of fun with one co-worker, Tues night-- he does photography of War of 1812 re-enactments, and so knows a lot about that topic. Right before closing, two guys came in, and I recognized one was the fellow I'd spilled my drink onto just before Pennsic-- turns out he's the current Baron of Rhydderich Hael. They told me to come to fighter practice Wed night across the street in Eastern Hills Mall. I said I'd try. after they left I was discussing it with the co-worker, and said something about how people fight in lacrosse pads with cloth tabards over the top.
"Isn't that a bit farby?" Coworker asked.
I laughed. "In the SCA they don't really use the word 'farb'," I said. Which is true, in my experience: "Farb" is a re-enactor thing, and whatever SCAdians really are, they're not the same.
"Huh," he said, and as he took down the photo lab, he occasionally would declaim, in Shakespearean actor-style, "They know not the meaning of the word Farb!"
It was hilarious. You had to be there.
I got the last of my photos finally-- found and developed that roll of film I took with the telephoto lens. Some of them came out awesome! I was uploading them to Flickr and the Uploadr crashed, after I'd spent an hour captioning them all. Yeah fucking awesome. So they won't be up for a little while, until I get over that. (Here's a hint: don't use the goddamn Uploadr to put on captions. it crashes all the fucking time. I just keep forgetting that.)
So I'll be taking more film pictures with that old AE-1 and its telephoto lens, you can believe it. Especially now that I know how to develop film and send the files immediately to a disk. (I may be digitizing a bunch of my negatives at some point-- but I'm going to ask about getting a key to the store, so I can come in on, say, Sunday morning when the store's not open. I have a lot to do and don't want to just try to squeeze it in during working hours when it's not busy-- in the first place, it's never totally not busy, and in the second place, I shouldn't be spending time I'm being paid doing stuff for me. I just want decent digital copies of all my stuff, especially the stuff from Europe.)
Whoa the mail just showed up and I just got a birthday check from my mom, and it's way more than enough to get my glasses. I should take care of that pronto. And Z just got paid for whoa a lot of months. So we are suddenly not desperately broke. Oh my goodness I can't process what that feels like.
It's been a long summer.
