I'm just lost now-- back from Pennsic, and facing the dozens if not hundreds of things I had put aside until "after Pennsic". I was so focused on sewing, on preparing, on everything that I don't even remember what else I used to do with my life.
Oy.
I don't think the feeling will last long. I've been going through the photos and going through my laundry and making mental notes, which I am going to actually write down this time, so that I won't waste effort preparing for next year.
The next project I have to do, sewing-wise, is the outfit for Abbie's wedding. I'm maid of honor; I need a Colonial-era outfit to wear. 18th C is muy trendy nowadays in online costuming circles, quite apart from being the Garb of my Origins, so I can't say I didn't want an excuse to do it. But where I'll get the dough for the materials I can't think. Still, I think that my skills are up to handling it. Probably. I'm going to start accumulating ideas now. The materials, unfortunately, I won't have a lot of freedom in-- I've got to go with whatever her colors are, of course. I just hope I don't get stuck with something I don't want. Of course the complex part is all the underpinnings, which I'll start as soon as I catch my breath, but I don't want the overlayers to be something I can't wear again.
There's a TON of 18th-C stuff out here, and I maaaay look up a group if I find myself with spare moments. That's kind of a joke, though-- when do I get spare moments anymore?
Of course, at Pennsic, in conversations with Nez, the tailor and garb-clotheshorse, I settled upon mid-19th C. as being probably the most primo optimal historic silhouette in the history of historic silhouettes for my particular body shape. No shoulders? Hips until tomorrow? Ridiculous hooters? Civil War, baby.
In SCA period, though, she thought Gothic would probably suit me best, and I think she's right. So I'll probably be working up some Gothic stuff over this year.
I really truly honestly do want to make it to a non-Pennsic SCA event this year, but how that's going to go I can't say. Again with the spare moments thing.
Though, erm, the local barony's heavy fighter practice is on Wednesday nights. Which it happens I sort of have free.
Sort of.
If I skip our new Lap Skating practice.
OK I probably shouldn't do that. Shutting up now. I'M NOT CRAZY. Shut up.
So, sewing. Yes. New sign for the Three Swans bar; an 18th C. outfit; a Gothic outfit; a completed Turkish outfit because yes please; oh, did I want to make myself any mundane clothes? Oh, sorry. Hm. Pencil that one in, I'm already booked until next Pennsic. After next Pennsic...
