Power went off in middle of shift yesterday. Stressful.

I leave for Pennsic tomorrow morning. Today I have to work five hours. I have a lot to do. But I don't want to start doing anything noisy just yet, as it's not yet 7 am.
So I'm gathering thoughts, drinking water, doing a little laundry and making mental lists. I have a tiny whiteboard and it has unfinished sewing tasks on it. Ha ha ha, like i have time to sew anything else. but if I don't sew a few things, I won't have those things to wear. I think I have enough right now, but it would kill me to go to Pennsic and leave behind so many almost-completed garments that just need one more fiddly little thing. It's a phenomenal waste of time to make a whole dress, including eyelet closures on the front, and then abandon it for want of sleeves, which take like half an hour.
So i'm packing all the hand-finishing into a basket, and I'll do it while I sit. (I'm bringing lights so I can work at night, too. Let's hope they're not obnoxious.)
But I've got to bang out a few more things on the machine, just because it will be too much hand-sewing for any human if I don't.

I also have to do all of my packing. Friday I finally went around the house with baskets and basins and things and just piled Pennsic-related gizmos into them, with the idea of assembling them all in one place so I can figure out what containers to put them in. So that's good. of course last year I had four or five revisions of a packing list, and this year I don't really have any packing list at all... whoops.
At least I bought all the groceries I needed to. So that's a good start. Er, maybe.

Oh, yesterday at work I lost my mind slightly and bought a telephoto lens. Before you rise up and strangle me-- you're so broke, yet you're buying a 70-300 zoom?-- I should mention that it is an old used slide-telephoto lens, in a nice leather case, for a manual film camera, which I have (a Canon AE-1), and it cost me $15. Now I can go take pictures of the battles at Pennsic, and get more than distant blots of color as my outcome. So that's my rationale. Of course, I lack a period camera case, or a case of any sort that can handle a telephoto, but the leather case will fit into the basket I carry up to market, and Fi gave me a quilted make-up bag with vaguely Elizabethan-looking embroidery on it which could go over my belt and be usable to carry the camera body.
She also gave me a bunch of rolls of unused film that she had in a box somewhere, so I'll see how it goes-- I will try to shoot it profligately, so that I won't lose whole events if a roll turns out to be bad. I can develop film for cheap at work so that's my rationale here-- get the film cameras out and use them while I can get away with it, more or less.

OK it's after 7, I'm making the coffee and starting to pack.
