more bummed than a bummed thing
Mar. 13th, 2009 09:33 amSo I skipped practice Tues night, knowing I should rest my sore knee. Skipped it last night because I looked at the list of planned activities for that night's practice and there was not only a full-intensity scrimmage, there was also a bunch of intensive lateral work, and I was basically guaranteed 100% to re-injure my knee attempting it.
But this morning, I was climbing the walls, so I figured I'd do laundry and while I was down there, sit on the exercise bike down there and give it a good spin. An hour would do me pretty well, right? With a break in the middle to pull the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer?
I got down there, all in my workout clothes, sat on the thing, pedaled for five minutes, and quit. It was growing increasingly painful in my knee and I kept trying to go slower and push with the other leg, and that wasn't working.
So I am beyond bummed. I hate being injured and totally unable to keep up my conditioning, but what can I do on one leg???
Sigh. I guess I'll go do some Pilates down there? But nothing that involves hands and knees... which takes out most of the stuff I know that's useful.
Grrrr.

Date: 2009-03-17 05:14 pm (UTC)I'm going to try skating tonight, though, since I know the agenda for practice and most of it is stuff I should be able to do. Provided that the normal motion of skating isn't painful. Which I hope it won't be.
I'm just going to have to accept that I haven't done anything remotely athletic at all in over a week now so I'm going to be out of shape, and what with the mucous, I can assume I'll be awfully out of breath as well. Oh well!! At least I had a somewhat-restful week. Ish. :)
