dragonlady7Sprinted through Jo-Ann's to pick up bra-making supplies.
They have no hook-and-eye tape. Rrrgh! So I bought hooks and eyes. :/ I also bought nude 2-way stretch nylon/poly knit lining material. I really think I'm going to make my first draft of a bra out of black cotton/poly jersey t-shirt material, because why the heck not?
Still haven't found a good pattern. I am so hesitant to buy a pattern because I'm going to have to re-grade the thing so severely it'll basically be from scratch (bra patterns fall into the exact same fallacy as RTW bras: either they are for small women, 34-36-38 ABC, or they are for large women, 42-52 D-F. All of which are sizes you can buy in the motherfucking store bitch please if you are a 34 C you do not need a motherfucking bra pattern!!!
But I digress. I am just annoyed at the thought of buying something I'm going to have to redraw entirely anyway. But I don't know enough to start from scratch so eh. I may try first taking apart an old bra and generating a pattern from that, which I will then re-grade, so at least I won't be out the money for a pattern-- I'll just be out an old bra that doesn't fit anymore. I have to try a non-underwired design first because I haven't bought any underwires (go figure, JoAnn's doesn't have 'em! Imagine that) and can't re-use the ones from old bras since they're all the wrong size. I don't know what my wire size is. I don't like to have to think of it.
Bleh, anyway, sorry about the cussing. I am in a foul mood. I went into Victoria's Secret today for the first time in about a decade, just because Fi had two coupons to get free panties, so I went in and got a free pair of underpants and didn't buy anything, which they hate. Sticking it to the man. Fi did try on their newest "Perfect for DDs!" bra, which was OK, she said, except it was vanity-sized all to shit, so her normal 36DD was a titch too small in the cups and waaay too big in the band. "If you had this in 34DDD, I'd buy it," she said to the bra fitter, who looked shocked. The cashier asked me if I wanted to get coupons for bras and I said, "Honey, I wear a 32JJ." "A WHAT?" she asked. "Yeah, they use the whole alphabet. Save your coupons, sorry."
Didn't help my mood that much. Because I got home and WHAT. WHAT, LADYPARTS. I SAID WHAT.

BUT. I did have a wonderfully entertaining time scrimmaging tonight. And hey-- you can follow our scores on Twitter now!! Z did a trial run tonight with the scoreboard! To my mysterious regular readers in other roller derby leagues, you can now always know what the score is in our league's bouts!

It's actually an automated thing built right into the scoreboard. So after every jam, it automatically sends the score update.
If you're signed up to get tweets texted to you, you'll hate this, but if you watch the thingy it's totally rad. And as a bonus, afterparty chatter can now become incredibly geeky and detailed. The data up there tonight is from the scrimmage we had, with the part of the "KO's" being played by a mixed group of KOs and Dollies, and the part of the "Kats" being played by a mixed group of Kats, Saucies, and a Dolly here and there. We went to the bar afterward and Z showed some of us his iPhone with the Twitter page up, and Rubes and Angry were trying to figure out which jams were theirs to tally how many points they scored jamming. It was cute. (Angry got 8 in her first, which she was quite pleased with.)
So anyway-- if you can't come on Sat. night, watch that Twitter account! Then you'll know how I'm doing. :)
