I think leaving the heat turned up (to 62! decadence!) all night has helped me shed much of the remaining sinus goo. It was on the wane anyway, but I actually slept through the night. Well, no, I didn't, but as I tossed and turned, and as I lay being walked upon by a certain busy little cat, and as I lay listening to her knocking things off shelves just for fun and scratching furniture and banging her food bowl around, I at least was not tormented by an overabundance of snot.

Z has come up with an interesting observation. Cats are largely crepuscular animals, yes? Much of their prey is most active at dawn and dusk, and so it stands to reason that so are cats.
Chita operates on a double circadian cycle. Every day, she has two days. At six am, she awakens, prowls, makes noise, begs for food, goes outside, plays for a while, comes back inside, and naps. At six pm she awakens, prowls, makes noise, begs for food, goes outside, comes back in since it's damn cold in the evenings, plays for a while, makes a lot of noise, and finally, naps.
She's basically on six hours, off six hours, on six hours, off six hours, every 24.

Which makes sense, I just hadn't noticed how mathematical she was about it.

Remi, on the other hand, is pretty much always on. She follows me around like sticking plaster because she is never sure when I will give her food, or more worryingly, when I will give that other cat food, or attention. She must be there at all times, just in case.
Which works out fine, because I habitually stay in one place for long periods of time, so she naps then.

Like the exercise bike. I spend an hour on the exercise bike. So she comes down to the basement and catnaps on a chair, waiting for me to be done on the exercise bike and supervising that I don't give Chita any attention meanwhile. She didn't used to, but then one day Chita wanted out and we wouldn't let her, so she came down in the basement, where I was, and prowled around, climbing on shelves and things, and I spoke to her at length and she twitched her tail and whiskers at me and yowled, and it was kind of fun. Only after that did Remi start watching me exercise.

So I dunno. I sort of can't wait for my sister to get here already so she can deal with her crazy cat, because I sort of can't anymore. I like her, but she's been so downright cruel to Chita that I can't make myself take her side in disputes. Z has been trying to be friendly to her but she doesn't like him the way she seems to like me. I was trying to make him be the one to feed them but he just wasn't feeding them, so that didn't really work out for anybody.

Eh well.
