I cleaned Z's room. I didn't clean my half, but I cleaned his half. Because I knew it would be easy. I just dump his laundry on his side of the bed, and he shoves the laundry onto the floor and gets dressed out of the pile. I'm complicit in this, and at least he's better about keeping that somewhat organized than I am. But I figured, how hard would it be? Also if I leave the bedroom door open his side is the side you see. It was easy, satisfying, and made a dramatic difference. Then I washed all the questionable clothing (most of it dirtied by being scuffed around the floor for a year or so), and have it all hanging on the line. The house is airing out, the living room was easy to clean because I just did a week ago, the kitchen ditto, and I got half the basement squared away in case that winds up being the Bearings Cleaning Area.
So I'm all set to party tonight. It was surprisingly not so bad.
But I need oil for my tiki torches because I figured I'd mark the house that way. And then I need to get some more mineral spirits. And I need flour, but it's a bit late to bake cupcakes by now, so maybe I have to abandon that idea. Hmph.
It's annoyingly not quite enough stuff for a full errand, but too much to do without. Humbug.

I have had a headache all day. I thought it was dehydration, because I forgot my water bottle in the car last night at practice and wound up not drinking enough before bed, but I've had about four big glasses of water so far today, spread out through the morning and early afternoon, and that hasn't shifted it. I had a cup of coffee in case it was caffeine, but that didn't work. So I'm going to have to resort to advil pretty soon. Still, I think I made a convincing effort to avoid painkillers-- from 8 am until 3 pm just ignoring it?
I'll keep drinking water anyway.
...

I read all those links this past week about organic gardening, and two or three of them mentioned what a great clean, renewable source of nutrients human urine was, how great a fertilizer it is. And I live in goddamn suburbia, I am not going to piss on my lawn. But now I feel guilty every time I pee in what amounts to a bowl full of drinking water and flush it into the sewer.
It is a hard thing to be an incomplete and un-total freak.

(If I had a penis I would totally pee in my compost pile. No wonder my neighbors hate me.)

Oh yes, now I remember why I opened this window. i was going to share the latest cat cuteness. (Whoops-- in the interim here I finished hanging out laundry and ran off to run a bunch of errands.)
We've decided that Remington is a boring cat name, and Remi should be short for more things. (Well, Remington is cool. But variety is the spice of life.) So the perplexed small round cat is now being summoned by a series of other names.
Reminald was the first-- if Reggie is short for Reginald, then Remi is short for Reminald. Simple enough.
Remoulade was my improvisation-- since I like the word.
Then I started calling her Rementaler, after the cheese.
Remintard was dropped quickly for being too mean.
Remonade was suggested, though it hasn't been repeated.
And Z's contribution was "Rem--embertheAlamo!"

She doesn't even answer to "Remi", so there isn't much point to any of it.

But that's not the cuteness. This morning she was scratching at the door after Chita went out, so I took her out, in my arms, for a little tour of the yard. I put her down on the grass and she carefully, daintily moved to a paving stone so her paws wouldn't get wet, and set about eating some of the blades of grass next to her.

Later she snuck out the door again. When I looked at her, she scooted back in. But I didn't shut the door, since I was in and out and in and out, so all day she's been poking out, scooting in, wandering out a little further, scooting back in. It's a nice day. I figure it can't do any harm. Maybe the exploration will make her sleepy later...
I told Fi and she was overjoyed, as she's always wanted to let Remi be an indoor-cat-that-putters-outdoors-sometimes.
I keep texting her new Remi- names.
Anyone got any other good ideas?

remise -- as in, to send back (usually by giving up a deed). This is a mean one but seems to be reminiscent of her recent behavior.
Hey, that reminds me of remiss -- as in careless and negligent

hmm.

how about remission -- as in forgiving a sin, not the cancer thing. Or remittent -- as in, she keeps coming back and making more noise when you thought she was gone! er, asleep.

Sorry, none of these are very good.
