I mostly post here on days where I'm not up to much. That's just how LJ works. So I figured I'd take a moment, oh my aching back, oh my wonky hips, and sit down for a minute, ow ow ow, and mention, for the record, that I have been busy today.
Z has spent this week cleaning out the 'office', reducing the clutter to organized piles, cleaning and sweeping and dusting. Today we finally sorted the piles into boxes, cleaned the last of everything out, and started moving furniture.
This also involved me cleaning out our bedroom, so that I could move that furniture too. I haven't done this in a while; used to be, I'd get bored and move furniture all the time. I'm quite good at it; I can move a fridge on my own without turning it off or emptying it. (Hint, for women and weak-upper-bodied persons in particular: to move heavy furniture, sit on the floor, brace your back against the item, and shove with your feet, using your arms to scootch yourself in the right direction. This only works, however, if the item does not have sharpish feet that dig into the floor. My kitchen linoleum was already crap, though, so I'm not terribly remorseful.)
So I rearranged my half of the bedroom, so that the printer can be in there, and so can the router, wireless access point and Airtunes plugin station. There's still a bookshelf, and my dresser, and my trunk, but now there's also a bedside table I can reach while lying down (! I know!) and I'm going to move in a floor lamp as well. I put away many of my clothes (!!! I know!!!) and have even got a neatly-stacked bunch of printer supplies. I have more clothes to put away, still, before I can sleep. More's the pity.
I've also washed my roller derby pads, because last night I abruptly realized that they had reached That Point-- the point at which I could smell myself almost constantly. The point at which I suddenly Can't Deal Anymore. So that could not wait any longer. I hope they're dry by tomorrow night... There's some sun today, at least.
I also did a load of regular laundry.
The small desk is out of the office, replaced by the big tall antique dresser. I've done a number on the finish over the years and over the moves-- but it's Mom's fault for sending me away to college with an antique. Seriously. I hope it wasn't actually valuable. She didn't even tell me it was anything in particular until after my roommate had set a plastic laundry basket full of books down on top of it and shoved it around several times, leaving great big missing chunks from the surface.
It already had sun damage.
Anyway. It's, um, chic and distressed.

So now Fi has a beautifully clean and organized little room she can move into. I even put in one of the big under-bed storage containers I bought to go under my bed and then realized I can't really use there. It fits better under that bed, and is much more accessible. (My side of the room is just so cramped I can't pull the container out to use it, and the bed is so low that I have to snap the top back on properly before I can wedge it back under the bed.)

Boring. I know. But. Constructive.
