dragonlady7: self-portrait but it's mostly the DSLR in my hands in the mirror (coldblood)

So I got the straps attached in the front of the corset, and punched the holes for the eyelets and used a plastic needle to lace myself into it. It was kind of the moment of truth.
It... mostly fits. And it... kinda supports my boobs.
The armholes are too big, and the straps are set too wide. I made really wide straps in an effort to hike up the whole front, so I can't really just tack them over a bit. I had Z pin the straps in the back, and no matter how he pinned them they wanted to fall down. But I had a brainwave-- if I pin them in the middle, so the thing is kind of a racerback, then they'll probably stay up, and it will pull the whole thing in a bit.

I'll post pics later. I have to mull it over a bit first.
Anyway. Only about twenty minutes' worth of sewing left... and then, like, six hours of hand-finishing eyelets. ... Oh well.
It's messy-looking. But it approximately does the job.

I just gotta get up the motivation to get the straps into the right place.

...

I don't think I really have anything else going on in my life. I'm going to go write as a non-sewing reward.

You want motivation? You want a good laugh? This is the picture I took in memory of the moment I tried my old bodice on and discovered the fit was a no go. Had it really been that long since I last tried it on? Had I really gained that much weight? Yes, yes indeed. I think I got about 10% of my boobs in. I imagine your old one looks much the same. But your new one! It will cover!

That is AWESOME.

Actually that's better than my moons-and-stars one looks. That one... well, it's an underbust corset.
With a 14" front.
Yeah that's kinda ridiculous.

Yeah, I knew I was going to be bigger, but I was like oh, it's a bodice...it'll squish, I'll just have a little gap in the lacings. Har har.

And that moon and stars material really reminds me of a quilt pattern I have stashed away somewhere. I'll have to look for it. I could also swear it's the same pattern my friend made a skirt of, about 15 years ago. If not it looks very similar.
