Me, to my coworker: “I LIKE OSCAR ISAAC A NORMAL AMOUNT WHY WOULD YOU ASK???”
Me, to my coworkers early December: oh Star Wars! Yeah I’m going to see the new one, I loved the franchise as a kid.
Me, now, wearing a Rogue Squadron shirt: why yes, I like Star Wars. A normal amount. Yes. Very normal and proportionate. I have many other interests and hobbies…
Yeah I had a similar thing
Future coworker: are you going to see the new star wars?
Me in mid December trying to make a good impression : yeah well they’re for kids aren’t they? Going to wait to see reviews, I mean I feel like it’ll be fine but I’m not super excited
Me now: I have absolutely normal interest in star wars what are you talking about were all fine here I’m fine just a small weapons malfunction we’re fine how are you?
my partner: oh my GOD
me: what, what is it
partner: do you- did you- OSCAR ISAAC IS YOUR LOCK SCREEN
me, defensively: I LIKE HIS FACE
I am really enjoying this sisterhood of ladies who should know better but have no chill around oscar isaac.
You are all my people. let us be friends.
Perving is a homosocial bonding ritual, exhibit umpty-something.
I try to be stealthy about my crushes, I try not to unnerve my dude with them, but he catches on. (He also doesn’t care, and I know that, but I also feel like I’m obligated not to make it weird. So I always make the effort.)
I have had the best cover talking Star Wars stuff with baby nephews, though. “I really liked that one X-Wing pilot!” “Yeah X-Wings are cool!” “He’s super dreamy!” “What?” “Uh– nothing! Hey, let’s buy you some more LEGOs.” “Yay!”
