I may be stealing this internet.
Sorry to everyone to whom I owe comments/emails: 4 am yesterday snuck up really fast, and then I was in a car, and then I was in a plane, and then I was on a plane, and then I was on a plane, and you get the idea it took a while, and then I was on the Underground for like an hour, and then I walked about 3 km with 150 lbs of luggage (like how I'm switching measuring systems, there? Yeah my brain is Jello) and then I took a shower and realized.... there are no towels in this hotel room.
Is that normal???
I never actually stayed in a real hotel in the UK when I was last here, so now I don't know if that's weird or not.
Anyway, I have to find towels. It sucks to dry off with a t-shirt. I had a dream just now that I asked at the desk and you had to buy a kit at the desk if you wanted one-- and it had towels and soap and shampoo and razors and tampons in it, and I remember being really annoyed that you couldn't get one without tampons because really, I don't need any-- and it cost sixteen pounds (given that I am typing on the computer I brought from home, there is still no pound key), and I was super annoyed, but now I realize that was a dream.

So I have to figure out how to get in touch with people now that I am here. And I have to figure out where I left all the information I need. But this realization that I have somehow scored free Internet, even temporarily, has saved my goddamn life.

On the Tube last night I realized that the confirmation form I'd printed off when I reserved the hotel did not contain its address. I found the address by going into my saved iChat archives from where I'd sent it to Z to tell him where we were staying.
Yeah... I'm a bit poorly-prepared for this trip.

But, last night we walked to the nearest Tesco Express and bought a giant tube of Jaffa Cakes and a pack of Penguin Bars and some Fanta and some cheese, so life could be much worse.
