For some reason my knees are both hurting a lot. I think I need new inserts for my shoes. I have really got to figure this out today. I looked at the grocery store but couldn't find arch supports that were remotely the right shape. Where would I look for a better selection of that sort of thing? Target or somesuch?
Maybe I can just make my own. I made my own for my skates, out of gel sole inserts, an old insole, and duct tape, which have worked pretty well but may be wearing out. I may do some experimenting today.
The hotel thing is proving problematic. At least we have a phone now, so we can call places. Have just booked a place on Camden Rd., I think, but I am waiting for confirmation. It seems OK, and it seems like that's not that far away. Like two miles from the venue, and like three or four from their house, and it's "seven minutes" (what kind of a measurement is that? Longitude? Walking speed? Driving?) from some tube station or other.
Whatever; I've arrived at places at midnight not knowing where to stay before, and in the worst case, you go down to the police station, look lost and sniffly, and ask them where there's a hostel open late. This may not work as well at 28 as it did at 19, but I still look like an idiot, so that should count for something.
I deal a lot better with being really tired than Z does, however. Seven hours a night and he's completely unable to cope. Which is just a laugh riot all around...
Well, we'll see. Now, to pack!

Date: 2008-04-21 01:40 pm (UTC)And it's seven minutes walking, because driving in London is a very very bad idea if you weren't born and bred there. The tube system is good for everything, anyway.
(Says she living in St Andrews/the north of England for the majority of her life, so take all this with a pinch of salt. Apart from the bit about Camden Town. You'll love it.)

Date: 2008-04-21 01:41 pm (UTC)Have you tried Hotels.com for a hotel? Paul and I booked all our hotels through them, and got some really nice places at really reasonable rates (our London Hotel was a 4 star within sight of Westminster Abbey for about $160 a night). I'm not sure what your budget is, but it's worth a shot...
Have fun!
