I admit I only went and saw it because I saw that there was fic and art and I wanted to be part of it.
I do recommend it on those grounds. I actually have not re-watched it. I’m kind of doing my own thing over here.
It’s marvelous though because it’s such a huge fandom and so universal, with a refreshing combo of an enormous canon and an incredibly low barrier to entry. It’s such a weird set of circumstances, and I love the energy.
There’s tons of bad energy and negativity and whatnot, but you just have to kind of curate yourself a space. I personally am becoming so fascinated with all the alternate takes on the universe, because unlike Marvel and Hydra, the First Order is *not* canonically fascist, and so you can kind of– relate to them. They’ve painted them with broad, Hugo-Boss-colored Bad Guys strokes, but since the canon is drawn in such bold sweeping lines there’s a lot of room for subtlety, and I like that. I’m not exploring it much myself, mind, but I like that anyway; it’s not about anything on Earth or current events, and it’s a nice change that way.
All of that said? Mostly I am here for Poe hurting so pretty, so so so pretty, and Finn’s cinnamon roll enthusiasm covering a ruthless razor wit, and Rey learning about her phenomenal cosmic powers, and oh yes, Leia, doing what’s necessary, as she always does.
