beets beets beets
Jan. 19th, 2008 07:58 pmPhat beets. Z keeps saying that. He's boiling some beets to go with dinner. Which is complex and involves two ovens. He's making the Achewood Cookbook's "Ray's Perfect Oven Fries", which have complex temperature requirements. He's also making the Dinosaur Cookbook's "Not Your Momma's Meatloaf", with the substitution of a tiny red pepper and some carrots in place of the green pepper, which we don't have. Also he's using more Italian sausage and less ground beef, because that's what we had.
And he's boiling some beets.
Phat beetz, beetz, beetz, he keeps saying. Like beatboxing, with his mouth. And this is a reference to a video we saw on the Internet, but now I can't find it. It was about some indie record store in Toronto, and had these really boring suburbanite WASP types talking about how they would find all their musical needs met at this record store.
"Phat beetz," said the pudgy white woman, looking seriously into the camera.
Beetz, beetz, beetz.
I wish I'd taken pictures of some of this weekend's foods. I'm sorry, that should be capitalized. This Weekend's Foods. I feel we've been being very extravagant, but much of it was things we'd absent-mindedly bought and then forgot about. I'll try to remember this the next time I can't find a thing to eat in the house two days after a $200 grocery run.
The windows in the living room are all steamed up.
