oh, yes. I didn’t finish explaining how they were related to Hawkwind. Hawkwind was Lemmy from Motorhead’s other band, and he got fired from it for taking the wrong kinds of drugs, and in disgust he went and founded Motorhead, which was kind of the total opposite thing.
And somehow my seatmate thought since I really liked Motorhead a lot (one of the early things we kind of bonded over was that while he knew ALL the music and I knew ALMOST NONE of the music, we both could unite on Motorhead) somehow I would like… Hawkwind. Even though the OTHER band we were united on was L7, which is like, THE angry lady shouting band. Somehow it never crossed his mind that perhaps I would enjoy Girlschool. Until Friday!
At least we got there eventually.
