I need to learn to ask for time off. I haven't been here long enough, though. And I've already run out of my paid days off until May 2008. Ha! (I blew through my days off over the summer, mostly.) I don't think they realize that I don't care if the days off are paid or not. It is truly stupid that I profess not to care what is thought of me and simultaneously worry that taking so many days off will make them think less of me.
I should've taken off this Thursday and Friday; I should definitely have taken off days next week. But I didn't. Just sitting at home, catching up, decompressing would be invaluable. Z has this week off, from today until next Thursday (he worked yesterday), and I've asked him to relax extra hard for me. Asking him to do things around the house would probably be insensitive. :/ Though I'd love it if he could get the storms on the doors. (No, we still have our screens up. I'll do the windows next time I have a day off-- which won't be until after the bout-- but I don't know how to do the doors and wish he would do them.)

Aaaack.

I like to think I'll have more free time in January, since I'm not skating in February's bout, but I know that's not true. Most of what eats my life about roller derby is the PR Committee stuff, and I have to do that whether I'm skating or not. I'll probably let it eat skate time more, but that won't really mean I'll have more free time.
Maybe I'll get better at things, though.

I did find out that I am not skating in May either, and that means that it is actually feasible for me to take off to London in April for [livejournal.com profile] buschibaby's wedding. The fact that this might actually happen is blowing my tiny mind.

I guess I am exceptionally lazy. I just can't stand having all my time filled. I can't make productive use of my scraps of free time. It's mental, I know, but just the fact that every evening is spoken for, every day, every morning and afternoon, for the forseeable future, is reducing me to utter uselessness. I am so very easily overwhelmed...

Oh! She's marrying Sheila, the woman she's been with since around the same time I met Z.
They legalized homosexual "civil partnerships" in the UK, so i guess i shouldn't really say "marry"-- it's not a "wedding", it's a "civil partnership ceremony", and it's somehow not the same thing.
But anyway.
They bought a flat together, renovated it, and are tying the knot in April!

No way!
Craziness.
I dunno what I'm more impressed by -- the UK legalizing it, or Ursula actually doing it.

We call it a wedding, it's only the government who don't... I'm kind of impressed that we got around to it at all, but we're planning on kids and want there to be as much legal and implied protection for that family as possible.

And B, it would be so cool to have you there.
