posting binge!
Nov. 29th, 2007 09:30 amOverheard in the office:
"She says they've got us by the goinkers."
"What are goinkers?"
"I don't even know."
Another exchange that just took place:
(over the cubicle wall) "Hey Bridget?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm going to email you something."
"... OK?"
Why would you need to announce that? I have Outlook open. I'll get it. I promise.
We're having an office gift exchange. 'Tis the season. Adding to the normal level of awkwardness is the fact that while the company employs less than a hundred people, I really only know the ten or so that work in the office. There's a factory upstairs, and I rarely venture up there, mostly because one doesn't really need to wander around a factory while things are being produced-- it's rarely conducive to health or productivity.
So I don't even know how many people work up there, let alone their names or what they do.
I sort of know the people in the Shipping department downstairs, but it's not exactly intimate.
So I gotta think of three things to ask for that cost under $15 that I'm comfortable asking basically a complete stranger for.
Hoo boy.
What even costs $15? I'd ask for a book or CD but they're all more like $20. Bah.

Me: "Yes. I know. I answered it."
Annoying co-worker: "So, what do you think?"
Never got up the nerve to answer, "I was hoping that we wouldn't ever have to talk about it."
