man my eyes, my eyes
Nov. 28th, 2007 01:59 pmEvery day by about 2pm my eyes are stinging and hard to focus, and my head begins to hurt.
I rearranged my desk slightly today, to move the monitor out of the corner it's in. I had developed a tendency to hunch over and stare at it, since it was under a shelf. Also since the corner of the cubicle was behind it I never would look away from it, since it was surrounded by grey carpeted partitions. I've moved it to be along the straight edge of the desk, so I can look out the window behind me-- now to my left.
But the kneehole under the desk doesn't quite extend far enough. And there's no light to turn on behind the monitor. I'm trying to sit so I look down slightly at the monitor, which is supposed to be more ideal than looking up at it, but I can't get my chair high enough. The arms on the chair mean that it twists when I try to shove it under the desk, which means I strain my back.
How stupid. I still have a headache and my eyes are burning something fierce.
I also noticed last night that my vision is terrible even with my glasses on. With my glasses off, I can't focus on anything more than 8 inches from my eyes; with glasses on, now, I can't focus at a great distance.
I guess I'm still legal to drive, though, so I suppose I won't worry about it.
The last time my prescription changed was 2001.
It's obviously this job that is doing this to me.
I just wish it didn't hurt. If it didn't hurt, I'd be much happier about this.
It doesn't hurt if I don't look at my computer. But eyedrops don't help, drinking more water doesn't help, and I just can't take frequent enough breaks to rest my eyes.
Oh well.
