Chita is hyper. Z was lying on the floor with his head under the new coffee table while she batted at him, smacking him repeatedly in the nose. Now he's retired to the other room. I'm sitting on the couch.
Chita came in and was crouching under the papasan chair, watching me, only her eyeshine visible in the gathering twilight gloom. I was glancing sidelong at her, and then when she looked at me, I was pretending I hadn't been looking. This excited her until suddenly she ran across the room, jumped up on the couch, pounced on my tits, and then bounced off and ran back to hide under the chair.
In so doing, she unbuttoned my shirt.
Yes, my kitten just unbuttoned my shirt.
Crack monkey.

Date: 2007-10-17 12:06 am (UTC)Also, Leo's just today learnt to copy Tabitha's trick of jumping from the floor onto my shoulder whenever she takes a notion to share my view of the world (most commonly when I happen to be at the cooker stir-frying chicken or cooking fish, strangely enough). However, Tabitha is a small, light, cautious and well-co-ordinated cat and with her it's usually something like having a bird land on your shoulder; Leo, on the other hand, is solid, hefty and still rather clumsy, so it's more like having a lead-weighted grappling iron suddenly attach itself to your shoulder. And this is him only half grown... I dread to think what it'll be like when he reaches full size.

Date: 2007-10-25 03:39 pm (UTC)I worry about how big Chita will grow to be. I also worry that she's so damn hyper. I assume she'll calm down eventually... I've realized that I never had a kitten that was exclusively indoors before, so I never quite realized how friggin crazy the things are.
She's not a good jumper. She has no other cats to copy, so she's still only just getting up onto countertops and things. She still usually climbs and makes small jumps rather than big leaps. And that is fine by me.
Her trick lately is that she hides under furniture or behind things and waits until you walk by, then she runs out, flings up her front paws, and smacks the back of your calf with both front feet (and no claws) before pushing off to run away and hide again. We always yell "SNEAK ATTACK!!" when she does this.
And thank God she doesn't jump up to do this.

Date: 2007-10-25 08:26 pm (UTC)Leo fell in the loo this morning - was standing on his hind legs in the lavi pan for a moment or two. He's always been fascinated with the toilet, rushes in ahead of me, jumps up on my lap while I'm sitting on the loo, jumps up on the toilet seat to stick his head down and watch the water when I flush it. I've tried to discourage him and keep the seat down, but this morning, after watching the flush, he went to jump up from the seat onto the cistern and somehow slipped or tripped. His rear end got wet up to about the hips and he didn't like that too much, jumped out smartly with lots of splashing and threw me some evil glares. Hehehehe - it was very funny. I was hoping it might put him off a bit, but he was back cavorting around the loo again within fifteen minutes, so I guess not...
