I just don't have the brainpower or time for proper entries lately.

1) IKEA shall feel my wrath, later, when I have more time.

2) I bought a king-size mattress yesterday. Free delivery. Also I can call later to schedule delivery. Rock on. I just have to... clean out the bedroom, strip the wallpaper, and paint the whole thing. No problem.
I am now soliciting recommendations on how to remove ancient but not at all peeling wallpaper. Thanks in advance for any advice you may have. (If it's important, the wallpaper is applied over plaster.)

3) Chita peed on Z's bed again, this time apparently while he wasn't in it. (He'd fallen asleep on the couch, and only noticed a cold wet spot when he got in.) How can I convince her this is not a good idea, this peeing in people's beds? That's twice in his and once in mine, now, and the time in mine is the only remotely justifiable one-- she'd been locked in the room for all of 5 minutes and we hadn't let her out.

4) Had a NCKO meeting last night. The league's top three jammers are not returning-- Redfox, with a season total of 124 points, is in nursing school and won't have time this year; Mexicali Bruise, tied at 124, is having a baby (a girl!), in January or February; and Janeiac (121 points) doesn't have the time to spare from her new high-powered job.
So the jamming field is wiiide open. I just wish I was faster. I wish I could do it. I'll practice as hard as I can.

4a) My knees are giving me some awful shit lately. I think they miss skating? I don't know. My knees are creaky and my back hurts often. I need to get skating again. I'm also going to take up yoga. We resolved that our new team motto was "skate till we puke", so, uh, yeah. We'll, ah, see.

I can't remember what stuff we used to get strip the wall paper, but it worked great - spray it on, wait a few minutes, and scrape away. I know it was from Home Depot (so you could probably get it anywhere...). I'll ask Paul what the name was.

That stinks about RedFox and Janeiac! I had heard Redfox was going to ref, so that'll be good. Mexi will be back after she has her baby, too. That really does open the field, though, doesn't it? Wow!

Take care of your knees!!!! I hate that mine suck, but I probably could have done something about them years ago, but didn't know enough. Ugh. I hate them!

I'm happy Redfox is reffing-- we were sitting there all glum in the meeting because we only have one new ref recruit, but then we kept asking after various skaters-- 'oh, she's going to ref this season,' and finally we had a list like five people long, of skaters who played last season and are reffing this season.
What do you mean we have no refs! We have a ton of refs, and all of them are brilliant skaters and understand the game!! This season is going to rock.
And it means we'll still see a lot of Redfox-- I know I'd miss her otherwise. I'll still miss her, and I'll miss playing against her, but at least she'll be on skates. God she skates so beautifully.
I hear Flo is taking over the sin bin? Or wants to? That also will be awesome-- because then we'll have someone consistent and knowledgeable there too. Consistency and knowledgeability is so valuable. It's really going to make things run so smoothly.

Poor Janeiac, though. She wanted to be bench manager, but Mia said she'd need her there at least once a week even for that, just to keep up on what skills each person has, and who's injured, and who's nursing an almost-injury, and who works well with who-- because you have to observe that, and can't be told that really-- and Janeiac said sadly she probably couldn't even do that. So we're a bit stuck for a bench manager. I wish she could do it, because I'll miss her so much too... And she worked so hard, it's awful to lose her. Maybe she'll miss it so much she'll come back-- but she's just one of those people who always has these high-stress high-commitment jobs, and it has to be a choice.

And Mexi-- well, I can't really think of a better reason to take a season off. I can't find it in me to be the least bit sorry for her, though I will miss her. She'll be around though, right?

One other great thing I heard at the meeting was that at Rollercon and the Eastern Conference, the Queen City Roller Girls were much remarked-upon for having the best turnout and best production values of any startup league. The veterans could not believe how many people we were bringing through those doors in our first season. I can't wait for January but you bet your buttons I'll be telling all my friends to come early to get in line! So all the other leagues know-- we bring the show, besides playing a quality game.

And that was while we were rookies! Man once we have all our bylaws and contracts and everything sorted out for good, we will be a powerhouse. Now for getting our gameplay up-- we'll be outselling the Gotham Girls in no time, and beating them too! Season two here we come!! I can't wait.

I just gotta get my knees good. X-rays showed nothing wrong, and there's certainly nothing wrong with the tendons, they just get sore sometimes. I'm taking MSM/glucosamine supplements and I'll be taking Mia's power yoga classes to learn some good stretching and balance exercises, and we'll see-- I hope some good crosstraining will sort them out. I've never had a knee injury, so I doubt it's structural. I just wish I had better health insurance so I could afford some diagnostics... Ehh, stupid health insurance.

Yeah - I really think there will be a lot of positive energy going out and coming back in this season! We really had no idea what we were doing last season - and did most of it pretty darn well! Yeah us!

> consistent and knowledgeable

Er, not to knock anyone who worked the sin bin this past season, I just think it was pretty stressful to have to learn it, and Holly at least was agreeing that it was really a lot harder than she'd thought, and she was glad someone wanted to do it full-time. It just seems easier.

I think everyone who did it - from Kiki to Holly to Mala (I hope I'm not missing someone...) said it was CRAZY! Having someone dedicated and committed is awesome - two would be better!
