Aug. 23rd, 2007 09:25 amThe database is down. I can't really do a whole lot at the moment, at work. So I'm kind of puttering, thinking about stuff.
It's just as well, as my brain is working as though someone had replaced all its motor oil with refrigerated molasses. Mrrr-rr-rr-rr-thunk.
Last night I decided I needed to get my bedroom cleaned out so that I could move the stuff from Z's bedroom into it so we could paint his bedroom next. It's something I had meant to do all week, but just didn't get to.
I didn't just tidy things up, I actually removed most of what was there. Everything on the desk, which included much of what had been in the living room and had been removed so that room could be painted. Everything in one trunk, and the trunk. I cleaned off the dresser, and the nightstand. I started cleaning off the shelves but it was midnight by then and I just couldn't deal. I now have no clothing in my room-- it's all in the attic now. I had tried to organize things up there, but it was just too much to think about. I'm going to have to organize things up there prior to bringing them back down. Eh well. We'll see.
At any rate, there's now an empty dresser, a clear desk, a bed, and a nightstand in my room, instead of the fifty zillion things that were there before.
At nearly midnight, Z went to University Hots and got us garbage plates to go.
At 6 am I got up and cleaned off the kitchen table, swept the floors, and started putting the living room back into order.
Oh, I also did four loads of laundry last night, and hung most of it to dry in the attic, and dried the rest in the electric dryer because it was sheets I don't have another copy of so I had to put back onto the bed I'd taken them from so we could sleep.
So I was busy last night, finally-- it's been an unproductive week otherwise. Well, it was an unproductive Monday and Tuesday. Two days is not a week. I think I'm forgiven for slacking off for two days.
Now my cousin is arriving this afternoon, and has a place to sleep that's not full of junk. We could start in on the hallway, if we were ambitious, but I think we'll probably tourist with him instead. And we're unlikely to do any work this weekend-- we'll probably travel, with him, instead. But next week we could do the hallway and start in on cleaning out Dave's room, so we can paint it.
Progress!
I am trying to make myself feel better about all this because I am so so so very very tired and sore today. But I had to do all that work last night-- it wasn't happening any other time or any other way.
Ungh, I need to do an article about autumn food for next week's issue too. Hm.
Anyone have any good autumnal recipes they care to share?

Date: 2007-08-23 01:49 pm (UTC)Me: "Ken, when did you go to bed last night?"
Ken: "I don't know, 3?"
Me: "And when did you get up?"
Ken: "8?"
Me: "Wait, I think I'm getting a psychic transmission as to what might be afflicting you. ZZZZZt! zzzt! ..."

Date: 2007-08-23 02:10 pm (UTC)No, I know what's afflicting me. I just wish it weren't so.
And I know I'll be up late, and probably drinking, tonight too. Fie upon thee, laws of human physiology or whatever the word is for the process by which you need to get adequate sleep!
