Apr. 16th, 2007 05:16 pmI have been trying to keep my personal life out of my Myspace but I had to post, there, about an email my mom sent me. It was just too funny, and also it was something besides Roller Derby Drama. He advanced armed with pistol and ski pole...
Not that there's really that much RD Drama-- we think we're drama queens, but honestly we're not, and none of it is that big a deal, if we'd all just stop fussin' so much. There are some serious underlying issues, to be sure, but given that we're a group of 40 women routinely physically injuring each other, and at least 6 of the Knockouts are menstruating in synch right now (I for one! I don't know about the other teams), we're really not doing all that badly.
(And as I may have explained to
tehta, I don't think the fact that we're women means we're doomed to fight more, I just think it means that we're more likely to use our sex as an excuse. Which may or may not be considered reprehensible. It's different, when women fight, but not as different as we all think it is. I've been in mostly-male groups too and watched the fireworks just as often. There's usually less blood, though.)
I mostly opened this window, however, to post that I want this. I want it. I somehow believe that I need a tankini. And I also somehow seem to believe that I will wear this this summer during my copious free time to roller skate outdoors.
A tankini will provide enough support for roller skating, right?
Not for hitting, but surely for skating.
I envision myself as the sort who goes skating on her free mornings, a lot, in beautiful park-like settings, and never falls embarrassingly. I have lots of fantasies about myself, OK? So sue me.
Mostly I'm just daydreaming about a time when the sky will be blue and there will be sunshine and it will stay above freezing for multiple hours at a time, without any forms of water falling out of the sky. This does happen. It will happen again.
Someday.
