It is taking me tremendous discipline not to write this whole thing in capslock.
*deep breath*
No capslock.

There may be rampant abuse of exclamation points and the italic tag, however. Sorry. Duck.

The Nickel City Knockouts got our uniforms tonight!!!!! I thought mine would be ridiculous-- on our captain's advice I ordered my t-shirt in a size XXXL (I won't explain how silly this is, but she and I have approximately the same dimensions at the fullest part of our chests-- but we couldn't really be any different in shape. I only wish I could sport lats like hers.), and thought, this is going to hang off me, I'm going to have to alter it, it's going to be ridiculous-- but it fits like it was made for me. And the skort is so cute. And I have a hoodie! with my name and number on it!! and the team logo!! and the skirt says "There goes another knockout" on my ass! right under the brass knuckles!! and we are SO much hotter than the Saucies!! And that's as catty as I'll be about that.
Maybe.
The uniforms are perfect. I can't even express how perfect they are. I am too excited and tired and grubby to take a picture, but there will be pictures tomorrow, oh yes, there will be pictures.

It's a baby blue t-shirt with navy blue cap sleeves-- just long enough that our arms don't look pudgy, although I must say with Mia's weightlifter's shoulders the effect is somewhat intimidating. The front has our logo (see my usericon), screened full-size, so it covers the whole front of the torso. The shirts fit all of us just loosely enough that the logo doesn't fold in on itself under the breasts (not even mine!!!!), but tightly enough that we all have waists. There are no weird bulges and we all look hot.
The screen printing is beautiful, really professional-- we had it done by the same people who do the merch for Jackdaw, because our designer is the guy who does all their designing (and also bagpiping, btw), and it is just super-slick. I mean, it is, I don't know, I can't convey my excitement-- I know it's just ink on cloth, but you can't possibly know how much of a difference it makes. This is actually nicer, better-quality than the average stuff you buy in stores. It's, it's, it's just, well, it's slick, and bright, and crisp, and the brass knuckles on the ass look like they're embroidered on, they're that vivid. I will not be putting this in the dryer, ever, and if I sink so low as to machine-wash, it will be done inside-out, because it is so beautiful I don't want to wreck it.

The skort is navy blue, with a seam across the fullest part of the ass/hips, and below the seam the skirt is box-pleated. In the center of the box pleat is the brass knuckles of the logo, with the slogan "There goes another Knockout" underneath in yellow. The seam is where the skirt attaches to the shorts.
The shorts are a teeeensy bit short on some of us-- the crucial line for all of our tastes is whether it shows that crease where the ass meets the thigh, and on some of us it does, just a little. But if we wear panties and tights underneath, it probably won't. We'll all be making sure of that-- because in roller derby, your ass is going to show, and none of us wants rink rash on the asscheek. It's bearable, on a thigh, but not on an asscheek. (One of us, a veteran of another team, had a bad fall while wearing a skirt over just plain old underpants, and got rink rash on her labia. It doesn't take much imagination to realize how bad that would suck. She has put The Fear into all of us-- none of us will skate without shorts, ever.)

This uniform is awesome because it flatters all of us. We wanted to get Dickies dresses, and the Saucies actually did, but having seen their team pictures... I mean, they all look OK in them, but it doesn't really flatter any of them that have any figure type besides the super-thin ones. I assure you, those of you who haven't seen these girls at practice after practice for six or eight months, every single one of those girls is hot. (One's a pinup model! One's a bodybuilder! One's a super-crazy athlete! None of them is not hot. I'm not just saying that from league loyalty.) In the dresses, I think some of them just look so-so, some of them look a little lumpy, some of them look a little awkward. And the buttons are fussy, and they have to tug at the skirt to get it to lie right, and, you know, they're hot dresses, but just not as practical as we'd thought they would be when we were going to order some ourselves.
They look a bit hotter in person than in the photos, but still-- those girls are hot, and in the dresses, eh, I mean, they're OK.

So we're really excited about our uniforms. The cut and fit is exactly like what most of us wear to practice anyway, so we're comfortable from the start. None of it needs any adjustment or alterations to fit us perfectly. And really, we all look awesome, from the little stick-figure girls to the big girls. It's not exactly sexy, it's not like we'd be posing for pinup shots in the uniforms-- but we look sporty, we look competent, and yes, we look curvy and dangerous, and I think that's what a roller derby uniform should look like.

Our team photos will be awesome as well. We might do some at the rink, but we have several awesome locations lined up as well. And, did I mention, one of us is a model, and when she's not modeling she earns her living doing makeup. So we'll do... just fine. (Also we are all hot, but I think that probably goes without saying.)

The best thing about our uniform is that it's really great for those of us who are a different size on top and on bottom. I know I'm a 14 on the bottom (and a small 14, now! Go me!! Still haven't lost even a pound from when I was a big 16!) and like a 20 on the top; I also know Supernova (who is, did I mention, a model) is like a 6 on top and a 14 on the bottom. I know this because we were the two biggest team members, though not the heaviest-- Mia is slightly smaller but taller and all muscle. So the two of us were really really, quietly, against the dresses. I'm glad it worked out that we couldn't get them anyway, because I was not looking forward to the ordeal of trying to get mine altered. (The largest size they made was a 12. Might do up over my hips, maybe my waist, but I wouldn't be able to button it above the belly button or so. You can't really wear a dress like that completely unfastened, can you? No.)

Oh I'm squeeing too much and need to stop. But you note my forbearance from capslock? I have avoided it completely! (Any capitals were accomplished by holding down the shift key individually, I promise.)

I take no responsibility for injuries from stray exclamation points or italics.

Your uniforms are pretty kick-ass :) I also like your uniforms better than the Saucies (sorry ladies!), they seem a bit more practical and the screen printing on them is hot.

Your uniforms are super-cute! I do love them, but I must be true to the Saucy-ness. While I still haven't gotten my uniform since it's being made (one of the downsides of the dress to be sure...), I like the fact that they don't look like a sports uniform. I also LOVE the fact that the SS and NCK uniforms color coordinate so well!

I also thought the brass knuckles on the skirt were embroidered - I had to look closely to see that they weren't!

Good luck on Saturday night! Not that you need it, but, whatever!

I can't wait to see you in your dress, I'm sure it's going to look very Saucy!

Lol! I have that red Dickies dress.

It definitely doesn't hide any faults.

I did get to wear it to a Star Trek convention though, as a TOS-era dress. That was rad. \mm/

Oh wait, mine is the one with the zipper, not the buttons.

Still. I hear you on the "it doesn't work on everyone" thing.
