now awake, and disappearing
Feb. 25th, 2007 07:30 amI have to leave for roller derby as soon as I manage to get my hair braided. I was just looking, with some astonishment, through the number of open tabs I have in this browser window. I owe a lot of people a lot of comments. I will get to it, I promise.
Er, probably tomorrow.
Other but slightly related news: another employee senior to me has been let go. Both part-timers senior to me are now gone. I am considering going part-time myself, so I can work on my creative projects some more, and not have to give up roller derby to do so. I'd just need health insurance somehow. Hm.
But then I'm recognizing a pattern and wondering whether the management is going after all these senior part-timers for a reason? They're firing people for very spurious reasons and just because I can't understand their motivations in the slightest doesn't mean I can't see the pattern. I am something of a management darling, at the moment, and don't know why, but these things change with astonishing abruptness and I just don't know why. The people I work hardest for are not the ones I hold any truck with.
And of course while I'm collecting my thoughts, I might mention that I've been reading this comment approximately once every time I sit down to my computer. I think it will be a long time before I close that tab. But no, I haven't replied to it either.
A "doosh", by the way, is his friend Corey's amusing phonetic misspelling of the common American insult "douche", which Z has appropriated to mean the sort of person a more normal person might call a jerk, although the similarity to "doof" indicates that the person is more oblivious than "jerk" implies.
Crap, I've spent too much time writing this, but I won't be online again today more likely than not and I have to send
kkatowll a hug. I will be thinking of her today, and not just because I know she could teach me to ski.

Date: 2007-02-25 04:14 pm (UTC)I'm going with Dave, who's been skiing a bunch of times, and I have been cross-country skiing since I was 2, so I've a pretty good idea about the concept of dealing with six-foot-long boards strapped to my feet, although I know the mechanics of it are quite different. But I'm starting off with a very tight and unhappy groin muscle from rollerskating practice this morning, so I may be doing a lot of sitting around avoiding doing much real skiing...
I have a free lift pass anyway so it's not like I'm wasting a ton of money if I don't get a lot of skiing done.
How are you doing today?
