Blogged about today's practice here, and did a stupid music meme here. It was fun.
Have had a sort of bleh nothing day. Around 5 I snapped awake and said, "I need an ice cream sundae." So Z and I went to Condrell's, and he unbent long enough to converse about work. We've been amusing ourselves and one another since then, so, that's nice.
The threatened ice/snow storm for this afternoon hasn't yet materialized, so I remain slightly leery of what will greet me tomorrow morning. Winter's nice and all but I'd sort of like to kinda not have to ice skate down the street if I want to leave the house. Not that I mind much; I don't have to work.

I have to go ice skating sometime this year. Are rinks even open? I want to know if I can skate at all, or if the skillset doesn't translate at all.

I might wait until my ass heals though.

I got a comment (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] eledhwen_ch, and I'll respond in a bit; I'm slow at answering comments) on a very old bit of fanfic I wrote, and it's been so long since I wrote it that I don't remember writing it. It was nice to read it, as if someone else had written precisely what I wanted to read. That, I think, is a large part of why I write. But of course I never finish things and it's frustrating to get to the end. Oh well. I know it's dumb, and kind of like masturbation, but I really like reading things I'd forgotten I'd written. So that was a nice way to spend the span between the ice cream sundae and when I was finally hungry enough to make dinner.

Woop, battery's about to die. Time to go plug the laptop in and do something else with myself. Hmm, what to do...

Yes, it does translate. Really. I didn't think so for years, because I had so much trouble with ice skating as a child, but I've concluded that the fault was bad skates. Or maybe just really weak ankles. I couldn't hold my ankles up straight.

But I got into ice skating about 8 years ago - before my hips got so bad - and discovered that I could do it easily, and that it wasn't noticibly different from roller skating. I *do* need the laces really tight.
