I have been trying not to pay any attention to politics because paying attention when it wasn't going my way did me no good, and paying attention when it is going my way isn't doing me much better, because it reminds me that I'm a bit like Treebeard in that nobody appears to be entirely on my side, so it's deceptive to consider it.
And it just fills me with despair that nobody appears to have any common sense.
And also most of the arguments just bug me because neither side is actually right.
And it's all bullshit anyway.
But. Congratulations to everyone whose candidate won. I can't believe Bill Napoli still won, but, whatever. At least the abortion ban lost.
I wasn't going to talk about politics. No! I was going to talk about Norwegians!
Yes! My cousin Andreas's ship is coming ashore in Houston the week after next, and they're setting him loose in the US for a week or two, so he'll be in town. Woot! Excitement. We gonna party. And nobody drinks-to-unconsciousness like Norwegians. Man they are like world champions. All the soul-destroying angst of Germans, and yet with the fey apathetic chaos of Russians mixed in: Scandinavians are absolute party fiends. They waste no time. Not a whole lot has changed about that since 1000 AD, when they ruled the world.
I love my kinfolks.
I wrote a hilarious (to me) entry last night for
treigylgweith. The NaNoWriMo is going well-- I'm moving briskly on to Act II right on schedule, and while there's a bit of fluffy faffing around in the first act that has it over word-budget, it'll be easy to cut, and I have a pretty good feel for the tone of the story now. I'm at almost 29,000 words and moving well, with no foreseeable hitches. I'm still not sure of the ending, but I have a lot more faith in the characters to get me where I need to be now. So.
I also just realized that this book could be the first in a series. Holy shit. Not thinking about it yet, though.
Anyway. I got home exhausted last night, but not sleepy, and also in a lot of pain (pyramid drills, i hate you, especially when you immediately follow fall-down-get-up drills), so I had a snack and a drink and, well, by the time I got to my computer I was kind of not in any state to write, but I thought, I can blog this! Heh.
So that was amusing, and I still think I'm funny when I reread it this morning.
Today I have my Long Bus Ride / Sit Around A Lot Morning/Afternoon Of Doom, so I should be able to get another few miles down the road, easy. It'll be fun.
I wish I remembered what I was planning to blog here, though. I don't. Oh well.
