Apparently some British-born dudes had this Al Quaeda plot to bring explosives onto US-bound flights in their carry-on bags, and somehow these would be liquid explosives that would be indistinguishable from the innocuous liquids people bring on board all the time, such as beverages and hair-care products and lotions.
So now beverages and hair-care products and lotions are banned from being brought on board flights.

Apparently this is being inconsistently enforced as yet, because, I mean, WTF?

But the fact remains that my job, as a purveyor of beverages, just got A Lot More Interesting.

The only upside is that at least it should (heh) put a lid on the number of people asking for their alcoholic beverages to go.
