On phone with just-younger sister Fiona. She lives in Cortland, NY.
Go to http://www.cnn.com/WEATHER and go to the gallery of "Scenes from the floods."
The third picture is of Highway 88. That's the route she drove home two days ago.
Nearby Binghamton is partially underwater, as is Johnson City. Cortland seems to be faring slightly better. She lives on the uphill side of the city, so her worst flooding is a big puddle on her front walk. But the roof of her apartment is leaking, and has flooded her kitchen closet, and there's crazy mold growing in there.
Jesus. Binghamton. I mean, Binghamton. That was the approximately-almost-to-halfway point on Z and I's Long Drives Of Despair from Jersey to Buffalo. We used to joke about it being the least posh of the Hamptons.
Well. Fi was about to buy tickets for a Yellowcard concert in Johnson City on Friday, but she said, "Maybe I'll call to find out if the venue's still there first..."
