dragonlady7yesterday worked out okay in the end. It was busy and I ran around like a dingbat all day, and made decent money. Nothing to write home about, by summer standards, but for the 'slow season' it wasn't bad. I mean, we were short-handed and it was the end of a long weekend, but still.
I was scheduled until 7:15, infuritatingly: the bus leaves at either 7:06 or 8:28. I tried to get out a little earlier, but really couldn't, and so at 7:30 I was standing in front of the time clock, trying to think of something to do for half an hour. No.
So, I punched out and went to sit and wait for an hour. I called Z to let him know what was up. He said he'd come get me. i already felt dumb for having had him drive to work, turn right around, come home, get me, drop me off at work, and then drive back to his work, so I said no.... and then inspiration struck. Unless, that is, he wanted to come get me and go out to dinner somewhere? After all, this was an extra day so it's extra money, right?
So we went to Kentucky Greg's out by the train station, and we both had excellent dinners for a total bill under $25, while the waitress was cleaning up the restaurant. We apologized for coming in late and she assured us they were open all night. (Actually we walked out the door 5 minutes after closing time.)
Which is all a long way of saying that I am capping off a morning of Calvin-and-Hobbes-reading idleness by eating a bowl of leftover hickory-smoked baked beans and some pulled pork. Mmm.
Now I should really get to work. And I will. I also have done some gardening work this morning, and briefly pondered the laundry, so I'm not shamefully idle. I promise. Really. I swear.
Oh fine. Bah. I'll work all afternoon. However: I did have my laptop with me (intending to do work on the bus), and while waiting for Z to come get me, I did get some small, crucial bit done of a reworking of a scene I had wanted to post for Valentine's Day, so, that may well go up today.
Hint: Elfsmut.
But mostly I will be working on that novel today. I promise. Sheesh.
