Good things. Many good things.
One: Packed all my clothes for the trip, and I think most of the other things I'll need. Located both the battery charger for the camera, missing since Christmas, and the USB cable for the camera, missing since Thanksgiving. So two major coups there, both accomplished with an absolute minimum of stomping around the house shouting. (There was a tiny bit. But not even enough that Z got mad. He was very rational and helpful. Kudos to Z.)
Two: Went Out tonight, to see a rock-n-roll show.
Tickets were free-- one of Z's coworkers got them-- and so we went with his friend Corey to see Shannon Curfman. The link to her website is below, but I must point out that the website is severely out of date. Thing is, Curfman had a kinda big radio hit, got featured like all over the place, was almost semi-famous, and then absolutely entirely disappeared for five years, which is a damn long time to be invisible in the music business. Why? Well, er, I think she was finishing high school. She was still too young to get a drink in the bar where we were, tonight. As was her touring mate, but that didn't stop her.
Curfman is now maybe, just barely maybe twenty. She's heavier, her face has filled out, and she's actually shaped like a woman. Thing is, her voice has filled out too, and she sounds fucking awesome. Corey couldn't stop admiring her guitar's tone. She sounds so much better than she does on the album-- 1999's Loud Guitars, Big Suspicions. But she hasn't released anything new, yet, so she sat there at the merch table and I wanted to go over there and buy something but, well, all she had was that one album, which I have already. (It is, I might mention, a very good album and well worth the purchase. But, not really more than once.)

Three: Sabres won. Good game, excellent fight in the middle-- hilariously enough, the Sabre involved in the fight (whose name escapes me) hung onto the other guy until he'd given him a good hard sock that made him duck his head and kinda stay down, and then the Sabre motioned to the refs to step in. It was really funny, and made the highlight reel on all the stations. (The bar had a couple TVs on, on different stations.)
The only downside to the Sabres' win was that it was in the middle of the second act's set. And the second act was just this chick whaling on a keyboard. So when the crowd went nuts in the middle of a quiet bit of her song-- three times, in fact, because it went through overtime and came down to a shootout, which the Sabres won 2-1 on a great final save by Miller-- and so the poor girl on stage finally asked what was going on, and we explained in shouts ("Who's winning?" "The Sabres!" "Uh, is that a good thing?") and then somebody bought her a shot of Jack and she said Buffalo wasn't so bad after all.

I'd love to do a review, do Curfman some justice, but I'm supposed to be in bed now, so that I'll be awake tomorrow, so that I'll sleep tomorrow morning, so that I can take the second shift of the driving.
Suffice to say-- Curfman's got a new album coming out in a month or two that she'll be selling on her website, so, maybe they'll update the site to reflect the fact that she is no longer fourteen. (Which she was, when she released that album, and when all those pictures were taken.)

Suffice to say, even with no backing band (it was kind of a minimalist tour), she puts on a great show.

I just have to mention, pathetic as this is-- she and the other girl, Lennon, were opening for a Def Leppard cover band.
I am not lying.
And the cover band drew a much bigger crowd than they did. Which is pretty pathetic. (edit: I do not mean that it was pathetic of them, I mean it was pathetic that a Def Leppard cover band would be a bigger draw than two young, talented, independent artists. It was a damn good show.)
Sadly, I did not stay for the cover band. We would have, but I'm supposed to be sleeping. Tomorrow's going to be a damn long day. Also, when I backcombed Z's hair, he really looked like a Def Leppard fan, and it was kind of scaring me.

I certainly hope to!

Katy's got broadband access at her house, so, I'll probably be updating from there. Possibly with Cute Puppy Photos. Etcetera.

Dude, what's so pathetic about a Def Leppard cover band (http://adrenalizerocks.com/)? They were just starting to bring in the inflatable demon machine as we were walking out.

You guys are no fun.

Meh. If the drummer has two arms, it's not a real Def Leppard cover band.
