Part Time: Day 1
Jan. 9th, 2006 09:01 amOK, so, I don't have today off, but I don't have to go in until 2. So. That's not so bad.
I actually got off to an early start on my Part-Time Vacation when they dismissed me yesterday-- it was so dead in the airport they decided they didn't need me after only about 3 hours. So I got home yesterday (after having made $15, bummer) in time to get all kinds of lying around lazily done, and even managed to go shoe shopping and secure myself a pair of new work shoes, before I would even have arrived home on a regular day. So that was pretty sweet. I now own a pair of black sneakers with reasonable arch supports. The running shoes I bought the summer before last, to get in shape, had actually worn out to the point that my sock was exposed in one place, because they were the only shoes I had that had good enough arch supports that my knees didn't hurt by the end of a shift.
Hey. I'm not much of a shopper, so it's an accomplishment. I was trying to buy work shoes all summer and couldn't find them. But as an added bonus, Z found a gift card somebody'd given him, and so the shoes were actually entirely free. So. Good for me. I'm a little purchasing-retarded.
I'm sort of hovering at the moment, in a kind of in-between state: I still feel like it's ridiculously early, because it's so dark. I'm waiting for the sun to come up so I can get to work. But... it's 9:00. The sun is up. This is as bright as it's going to get.
...
It's dark.
Oh well. If I am to be productive, I had better get going. Still, how depressing. Cleaning is so much easier when you can see what you're doing.
