I have heard that I got one of the two part-time shifts I had deemed acceptable. This pleases me. At least two months of idleness will commence...
OK, I really wanted to say now, but that's not the case. I have one more week of full-time.
However, that week includes my "weekend" tomorrow and the day after, so I will be slothful starting right this very moment. Ha ha.
I happened to hear my cellphone ringing today as I was walking past where I'd stowed my bag, and so I answered it and it was my mother calling to leave me a message to say that Katy had called: her departure date from Baghdad has been moved up, and she will be leaving as soon as possibly tomorrow or the day after. Which is awesome.
However, it may be nearly a month until we hear from her again, as she'll be in varying stages of transit henceforth.
So, tomorrow, I have a Project, and that Project is to find random Things of Awesomeness and put them into a box to mail to Katy's house in Georgia, for a Welcome Home package that hopefully will be waiting there for her when she arrives.
I, er, also have to find stuff to give her for Christmas. Hmm.
While giving a break at the bigger bar I mentioned to the Senior waitress that I'd wanted to ask the bar manager about signing up for a vacation. SCW whipped out the Vacation Bid Sheet and said, "Write your name on the week you want." Maybe someone senior to me will want that same week, in which case I'd have to give it up, but SCW said it was unlikely that anyone would deny me the chance to go see my family; there are plenty of other weeks available.
So. Tomorrow: Put together Welcome Home package for Katy, clean the car, do the laundry, tidy some of the house, water all the plants, and put together my seed order from Burpee. Whee!!
I also think I'll start poking through my writing projects to see what project most appeals to me to focus on for the next couple of months. Whee again! Am somewhat giddy at the thought of it.
