Day 2 of not being at home: It's a gorgeous morning. Z and I both have off work. Bert the beagle is snoring. There's snow clinging to the trees all white in the rosy dawn. And of course, Z woke early and can't get back to sleep.

So I got up and have put his coat in the washer and then the dryer, so we can go places later. It got Pepsi spilled on it last night at the hockey game.
The game was awesome, by the way, and we had a blast watching it, but the Sabres lost, after overtime, in a shootout. Which sucks.

Amusingly, for some reason the crowd (attendance was 16018) decided they hated the Rangers' right-wing forward, Jaromir Jagr, #68, and I don't know why-- I had thought perhaps he was a former Sabre, but Internet research suggests that is not the case. (I know I knew him from the Penguins, but I thought perhaps in the interim?) So I don't know why. He scored two of the Rangers' goals, and every time he touched the puck he was soundly booed. When it was his turn to perform in the shootout, the stadium was chanting "Jaaaa-grrrrrr, Jaaaaa-grrrrr" which was pretty funny. But I don't know why.

And it came down to the shootout, and suckily enough, Chris Drury of the Sabres made the final shot, and it hit the goalie, and paused a moment, and then slid past, and went in, but the officials said it counted as a save.
So, buncha suck, and then we were stuck in a 16,000 person traffic jam. We shoulda taken the Metro. Eh well.
When we came out the snow was coming down, and it was lovely.

Oop-- Z's jacket just buzzed in the dryer, so we're free to go outside now.

Actually, Jagr went from the Penguins to the Washington Capitals, and then to the Rangers. I'm an encyclopedia of useless hockey knowledge :-p

Actually all I could find online was that he'd gone from the Penguins to the Capitals, and nobody could explain to me quite why he was there last night in a Rangers uniform. I just sort of assumed there was a bit missing. But yes, oddly enough, every single Jaromir Jagr website that ranked highly in Google had a chronology of his career that ended with him going to the Capitals. Go figure.

And no, the Internet thus far has utterly, utterly failed me in my quest to find out why 16,000 Buffalonians were so intent on booing him. I joined in, but Jeez-- when he went to take his turn in the shootout you couldn't even hear his name being announced for all the raucous booing and catcalling. Why?? What did he ever do to Buffalo? Well, besides scoring two goals last night.

Not that it wasn't fun. It's entertaining to have a bad guy, besides the refs, who we booed so enthusiastically that they put up the portable awning to keep them from having beer thrown on them when they entered the rink each period.
